How long do your classes run?Classes at our school are conducted in sessions that span approximately 8 to 11 weeks, following the Fairfax County calendar. Additionally, we offer private camps tailored for students whose schools operate on schedules different from the Fairfax County calendar. What is your payment structure?We require payment in advance. You can choose to pay through ACH transfer or credit card. There is no transaction fee for Electric Check (ACH) payments, while a 3.5% transaction (service) fee applies to all credit/debit card transactions. Please note that we do not accept physical checks or cash. Our registration and payment policies are below: All registrations can be made online at https://nysa.asapconnected.com. There is no transaction fee for payments made through Electric Check (ACH). For payments made with a credit card, there is a 3.5% transaction fee. Early registration is highly encouraged, as it ensures a spot of your choice and grants early registration discount benefits. Registration will be considered complete, and your class spot will be reserved, only upon the receipt of your payment. NYSA classes usually have rolling admissions, allowing registration throughout the semester. The tuition will be adjusted accordingly.

Can I get my receipts and your tax ID for tax-filing purposes?We're more than happy to provide tax-related documents. Please log in to your account here: NYSA Registration Login. Once logged in, navigate to Billing Info under your name and click the Tax Deductible tab. Then, you will find our tax ID and your receipts.

Do you have a payment plan or scholarship?At the moment, we don't have payment plans or scholarship programs available. We're continually exploring opportunities to expand our offerings and support our students further. Your interest and inquiry are truly valued, and we appreciate your understanding as we work towards potentially incorporating these options in the future.

How to register for classes?To register for our classes, follow these steps: 1. Visit our Registration Page or click the button at the top right corner of the home page (on mobile). 2. Create an account or log in if you already have one. 3. Browse through the classes list and select the ones you're interested in. Add them to your cart. 4. Proceed to complete the payment to finalize your registration. That's it! You're all set. Kindly note that registrations cannot be processed over the phone or in person. Please ensure registration is completed exclusively online.

Do you have any discounts?Yes, we have multi-class/sibling discount. If you check out multi-classes at the same time, the discount will automatically apply during check-out. If it doesn't apply, please contact info@nyschoolarts.com for help. We also offer Early Bird Discounts for camp registrations. Please check each camp page for the discount information.

Do you offer school pickup service?We do provide school pick-up services on a first-come, first-served basis. Our shuttle schedules vary each semester to accommodate inquiries. Due to limited shuttle capacity, we recommend contacting us at your earliest convenience to inquire about availability and rates for this service. Please check our After School Pick-Up page for information.

What is your refund policy?Our refund policy includes the following terms: The credit card transaction service fees (3.5%) are non-refundable in the event of any cancellations for payments made with a credit card. For all refund or credit situations, a cancellation fee of $35 will be applied. Cancellation made 3 days before the class start date: 100% REFUND with the exclusion of the $35 cancellation fee. Cancellation made 1 day before the class start date: No REFUND/CREDIT will be provided. The cancellation policy is applicable to all situations and reasons. NYSA may cancel any class with insufficient registration before the first class start date. What if I cannot attend one class due to sickness or my other schedules?You can arrange up to 2 make-up classes per semester/session (typically spanning 9-11 weeks per session). See our make-up policy here. Please be aware that make-up classes are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. We strongly encourage students to attend classes punctually.

Do you offer classes for Enrichment Programs?Yes, we do. Our range of enrichment programs is designed to inspire and engage students. We offer diverse courses such as Art & Sculpture, Comics, and Pottery (subject to facility availability). Moreover, we take pride in tailoring our programs to suit the unique needs and preferences of each school. Do you offer an international student visa?Currently, we do not offer student visas for international students. However, we do engage in various international collaborations and activities.

Do you offer online classes?At present, we don't have online classes. We believe face-to-face learning is best for art. We focus on making sure our classes have top-notch quality. But in the future, we might consider online classes to help more people internationally or in special situations.

How often are the classes conducted within a week?We provide weekly classes and welcome participants to attend multiple days a week by choosing different classes. This flexibility allows you to explore various subjects and experiences across our schedule.

What is the duration of each class?Usually, class duration is 1 hour 20 minutes. Some classes can be 1 hour 50 mins. You can see the class duration on our registration page here.

Will students do repetitive projects?Our curriculum for class will be changed every semester so you can continually explore different materials and skills.

Will I need to bring my own art materials to class?No, you don't have to bring any materials. We provide all necessary art materials, including paints, paper, oil pastels, charcoals, and more for your classes. Additionally, we incorporate recycled materials because we believe in promoting sustainability in art. For Pottery classes, we offer 12.5lb clay per semester at no cost. Please note, that if you choose to bring your own materials, we do not offer a prorated material fee.

Do you strictly enforce age group limitations?Yes, we do adhere strictly to our age limitations. Our aim is to ensure that our education is tailored to meet the specific needs of different age groups, providing high-quality instruction accordingly.

If I join a class midway through the session, how will the tuition be adjusted?Your tuition and fees will be prorated automatically when you enroll midway through the session. This adjustment will be made during your check-out process.

Can I join a class after the semester has begun? Have I missed the foundational content?Absolutely! You can join our art classes at any time during the semester. This applies to all Drawing/Painting classes, Craft/Cooking Art classes, and Adult Painting classes. However, please note that Digital and Fashion classes might have specific prerequisites. How long is one class?Digital Illustration for 11-15 year-olds is 1hr 50 min. Digital Illustration for 8-10 year-olds are I hr 20 min. Fashion classes for 9 to 14-year-olds are 1 hr 20min. Adult Fashion classes are 1 hr 50 min.

Who is eligible for digital classes?Digital classes are open for students from 8 to 15 years old. For some digital classes, you have to finish the prerequisite classes or equivalent camps.

Who is eligible for sewing classes?Fashion classes are open for students from 9 to 14 years old or adults. For some fashion classes, you have to finish the prerequisite classes or equivalent camps.

If I have prior experience in fashion sewing, can I exempt myself from the prerequisite classes?We encourage those with prior sewing experience to enroll in our classes. To assess whether you can bypass certain prerequisites, our instructors will evaluate your sewing work samples. In some cases, we may request a sewing test to determine if you meet the criteria for exemption.

If I already have experience in digital illustration or animation, can I bypass the prerequisite classes?We welcome experienced individuals to join our classes. To potentially skip certain levels, we kindly request that you submit your work samples created using the same program and device we use for teaching. Our instructors will assess your work to determine if you can bypass these classes.

What if the system error says the student doesn’t meet the prerequisite requirement for this class but they actually do?If you have already completed the prerequisite class but still see the error, please contact info@nyschoolarts.com and we will help you through the registration.

I want to register, but the classes are “read-only”.Typically, the first 3 classes are lecture-heavy. It’ll be hard for students to join in the middle of the session. For all the classes with levels, we close the registration for each session after the 3rd week of class.

If I bring my own device or materials, can I get a refund for the technology fee or material fee?Regrettably, we are unable to offer refunds or prorate the technology or material fees. These fees encompass the comprehensive usage of our facilities and are integral to the classes we offer. Our aim is to ensure that even if you forget materials or your digital device, your class experience remains uninterrupted. While you're welcome to bring your own materials or device, please note that the material and tech fees are essential to ensuring the seamless continuity of our classes.
